Lucas & Jade

This blog is not your typical couples photos around town.... it features a testament of love. Lucas and Jade have a beautiful love story, and Lucas created a special evening for her from flowers to photos! So it begins...I will let Lucas and Jade tell you about their relationship from then to now! Enjoy

"Our love story begins 10 years ago — we were just freshmen in high school then. "

-Jade

"We met on a Sunday afternoon in September, at our hometown heritage celebration days. I remember feeling like I had a whole field of butterflies inside my heart when I caught his eye."

-Jade

"We met at our town heritage days. I was playing catch with my little brother, when I saw a girl in a yellow dress. I had seen her before but I had never seen her in that dress!"

-Lucas

"Our brothers were playing catch outside the gate where we all were, so it wasn't too romantic. I decided to show off and join in — and, when he saw me throw that football in a dress, he knew I was something special."

-Jade

"Once I found out she could throw a football it was all over."

-Lucas

"November 5th, 2006, he asked me to be his girlfriend on the way to a movie. I didn't say yes right away, though. Our friendship was too precious to me to ruin..! He called me that night and promised me he'd always be my friend.

So I said yes!

We dated for two and a half years, having the time of our lives — we were on homecoming court, we wrote each other love letters, he walked me to class, and when it was curfew, we would pull over on the bridge halfway between our houses and polka all around.

When we were seniors, our lives were seemingly headed in separate directions: Lucas would be headed to Marine Boot Camp, and I was going to college.

Occasionally, I would come home from college on the weekends to watch my brother's football games. I stopped to say hi to Lucas' mom while at one of the games, and she said that Lucas wanted to write me from Boot Camp. I couldn't understand why (we left on rough terms), but I gave her my address anyway thinking I would never see a letter from him."

-Jade

"Two or three weeks later I received a tattered, stuffed envelope from, Pvt. Lucas Tabor. Could it be!? We wrote back and forth until his graduation in November 2010, and had made plans to hang out on my birthday when he got home. I knew then that I still loved him, but he was such a different person than I knew 4 years prior.

Time passed, and he moved to Florida, where he would continue his contract in the military. Six months later he would be discharged for health reasons, and unexpectedly back home!"

-Jade

"We reconnected and mended ways that fall, and on November 5th 2011, he would officially ask me out (again). In April 2012 he proposed (so romantically, but that's another story!), and in June 2013, we were hitched!

So, as you can tell, November is a special month to us. It's a month to celebrate the beginnings of our love and reminisce through our story together. After having our first babe, Sullinjer, in November 2014, we ran into some medical complications. After a long year of seeking answers, we decided planning a special night for just the two of us to reconnect was just what the doctor ordered!"

-Jade

"I knew that I loved Jade when she first stood up for me, whether it be to her friends or family, she had my back from the start, and that's how I knew I loved her. She always saw the best in me, especially when no one else did. It's easy to be in a relationship when everything is going well, but the true test to a relationship is how you react towards opposition. "

-Lucas

"I knew I loved Lucas before he asked me to be his girlfriend. I never thought love-at-first-sight was a "real" thing, but I fell in love with his spirit, and realized how much I missed it when all I could do was write letters to him in boot camp."

-Jade

"Lucas took the whole night into his own hands, and planned everything. He even bought my dress and shoes without any say from me! Talk about romantic! The details of this night were priceless — from the photography sesh with Hannah, to the pearls around my neck — he made sure I felt like a million bucks. But the best part? Reading our love letters to one another, cozy in bed nibbling macaroons (our fave), after a long dinner."

-Jade

"As much as Jade thinks that I am a fighter, I believe that she thinks that I am, because she is. For being such a little woman, she can be pretty stubborn sometimes. When she "puts her foot down", or gets a little upset at me, it makes me laugh a little. She's cute when she gets upset.

She cracks some jokes that are pretty off the cuff. What comes out of her mouth surprises me sometimes and it definitely makes me laugh!"

-Lucas

"Our love for one another is honest, grounded, and pure. Some days I'd even like to think we still have that same innocence as when we were freshmen in high school. I think this special night was a testament to that — we both agreed we felt as happy and bubbly as we did on our wedding day. It was the most incredible feeling, something I never thought would be so simple to stir. We still got it."

-Jade

"Our love has been tested. Our love has been refined. I don't love her like I used to, I love her better. I don't love her for who I want her to be, I love her for who she is. Tonight was a night to celebrate our love."
